Clear, honest information

Long, detailed documents and reports and hours upon hours of video of board and committee meetings are fine for detailed reference but are not effective for quickly and efficiently informing and involving residents.

The Town must do a better job of informing residents of significant decisions and projects, well in advance, in ways convenient to absorb and understand. It must encourage and engage opposing points of view early to build compromise and consensus plans that will be supported.

The failed proposal for a new high school, the continuing debate about trail paving at Haggett’s Pond, and Select Board refusal to place a voter-requested ballot question about Open Town Meeting as our form of government are all examples of missing big resident expectations, no matter which side of any of those issues anyone is on! We must do better. We must listen.
